[on the National Energy Guarantee] It's so disappointing for our young people that such a huge decision is reduced to these schoolyard tactics and point scoring, when what we know, is a big investment should be made in renewables.
Whilst I’m 100% in favour of renewables, they will not reduce electricity cost because the power company grubs soak up any savings in increased bonuses. The only sure way to slay the power demon is to go off-grid.
Doug,
You are probably right. I have an electrical engineer friend and he has set up his property, with all mod cons, in country NSW with solar power and large batteries and is completely off-grid. He has a little store-bought generator just in case, but only turns it on to check that it still works, he uses it so little.
