You, Jillian Segal, have attempted to conflate criticism of the appalling behaviour of Israel in Gaza and now Lebanon and Iran, with antisemitism. This, I presume, is a desperate ploy to try to assuage your guilt at these atrocities, or to consolidate your belief that Palestinians, Lebanese and Iranians are somehow subhuman. This belief is not unlike that of the nazis in the 1930s, who believed Slavs and others were untermenschen, and it has led to a similar murderous result.
In Gaza, Israel has murdered more than 70,000 Palestinians (a number the Israeli Defence Force accepts), and most experts agree that this is likely a gross underestimate. It is estimated that 56% of these deaths have been women, children and the elderly1,2.
On top of killing people indiscriminately by using missiles and bombs on residential areas, Israeli snipers have been shooting men, women and even young children as they attempt to get food and water. This of course has been denied by the IDF3. But there are numerous investigations and reports from foreign doctors, based on injuries of children brought to their hospitals, which demonstrate that children have been targeted specifically because a large proportion of them have bullet wounds to the head and chest, not something that would be expected from random injuries4,5.
Israel has also blocked humanitarian aid from entering Gaza. This includes medical supplies, as well as food. Using starvation as a weapon of war is a war crime, and a crime against humanity, and it is invariably children who suffer the most6.
The IDF has also targeted health workers, with one case demonstrating the depravity of the IDF. Members of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the Palestinian Civil Defence and UN employees were on a humanitarian mission to collect dead and wounded civilians outside the southern city of Rafah on the morning of 23 March, 2025, when they were shot dead at close range, and then buried in the sand by a bulldozer alongside their flattened vehicles7.
There is also the case of the aid workers who came to the aid of the little girl, Hind Rajab, who was at the time the only one of her family left alive in the bullet-riddled family car. When the emergency services turned up to save her, they were all killed too8.
The IDF has committed more targeted killings of journalists than any other government’s military since the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) began documentation of such crimes in 1992. In 2025, Israel was responsible for the killing of 68% of all journalists killed globally, and most of those were in Gaza9. This is still happening and has expanded to Lebanon, with the targeted killing of three journalists in Jezzine a few days ago10.
The IDF has also targeted hospitals, with 36 of them being targeted in Gaza. The IDF has destroyed the al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in Gaza, killing hundreds in the process. Dr Hussam Abu Safia was arrested by the IDF when he refused to abandon the hospital of which he was director, the Kamal Adwan Hospital, in which 20 people were killed and 240 arrested. Safia is still imprisoned and there are fears for his health. The IDF laid siege to the Indonesia Hospital for days, leaving the hospital in ruins with many dead11.
If you can look upon the death and suffering of the Palestinians with no emotion, then you are just like those pitiless monsters who murdered so many of your co-religionists during the holocaust.
I expect many people who have any understanding of history, particularly that around the rise of the Nazis and their programme of extermination of European Jews, will have heard of the extermination camps or death camps. These were Belzec, Chełmno, Sobibor, Treblinka, Majdanek and Auschwitz-Birkenau which were built by the Nazis in occupied Poland. In these camps several million Jews and others were murdered12. These camps represent the worst inhumanity imaginable. Now, to them we can add the appalling inhumanity being inflicted on Palestinians in Gaza, with some residents of the nation perpetrating this crime, Israel, probably being the descendants of the few survivors of the death camps listed above.
How you can look at the many instances of mutilated or crippled Palestinian children and babies and feel nothing but contempt or hatred is something that I will never understand.
The nation you so fervently support has become synonymous with depravity, a synonymy which will live long in history, alongside that of Nazi Germany.

After reading this Blot article I googled ‘Jillian Segal criticism of Israel Netanyahu over Gaza’ to see if anything had changed. Unlike The Jewish Council of Australia, whose criticisms have been frequent and stinging, it seems Segal has been publicly mute.
Earlier today I also read Nick McKenzie’s piece on Ben Roberts-Smith.The similarities and contrasts are quite stark. Aussie SAS Afghanistan vets chose to give evidence in the BRS enquiry, despite the obvious external pressures, anguish and loyalties to others who put their lives on the line for their country. One summed it up well: “You’ve got physical courage, and then you’ve got moral courage, and I can say from experience that moral courage takes a lot more.”
Jon,
People like Jillian Segal disgust me. They are just like the nazis, sending Segal’s co-religionists to the gas chambers.
It almost makes you wonder if the Nazis knew what the Zionist plan was. More likely, the Christian Zionist plan, but it’s much a muchness at this point.
It’s bluster but plenty would like to see earthly karma (justice) dealt to Netanyahu before he meets his god.

Extract:
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, of being “blinded by blood and hate” and said there was “no reason” not to attack. Mr Erdoğan said: “Had Pakistan not been mediating in the war between the US and Iran, we would have shown Israel its place… Just as we entered Libya and Karabakh, we can enter Israel. There is no reason not to do it.”
The speech came after Turkish prosecutors filed indictments against 35 top Israeli officials, including Mr Netanyahu, seeking a total of more than 4,500 years in prison. They were charged with crimes against humanity, genocide, torture and unlawful deprivation of liberty, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Akın Gürlek, the Turkish justice minister who served as Istanbul’s chief prosecutor when the investigation began, praised the indictment, calling it “historic”.
What went wrong in Israel? A genocide scholar examines ‘what Zionism became’

Don’t really know where to park these, but they are developments I wasn’t previously aware of and indicate the depths of depravity currently within Israeli (Netanyahu) and American (Trump) administrations.
First is a little alarmist, but then again many didn’t think a President would encourage and defend insurrectionists or that govt enabled ICE thugs would be murdering American citizens on the streets:
https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/trump-s-quiet-new-scheme-gives-him-power-to-send-his-critics-to-the-grave-opinion/ar-AA21OTpj
The second is not in the least surprising and should be used as further evidence of Netanyahu’s genocide when eventually the ICC/ICJ get around to doing their jobs.
Just when you thought Israel had plumbed the depths: https://www.972mag.com/lavender-ai-israeli-army-gaza/)
The similarities between Nazis stamping the arms of Jews and Israel’s “Lavender” Gaza targeting system won’t (ought not) be lost on many familiar with 20th century fascism.
Jon,
I have seen so much of the depravity online, every now and again, I need a breather. Just imagine how much better the world would be without Netanyahu, Trump and Putin. All three of them, and many of their enablers need to spend the rest of their lives in gaol.
I hear you.
Can we give them a single long stem rose each, with curare on the thorns? A lot less obvious in arrival than an assassin with a gun and knife.
Defining the intifada and testing Australia’s racial hate laws

The article may not reveal the whole picture but it’s hard to believe this kind of myopic rhetoric is still being rolled out today.
EXTRACT:
Adam Butt, appearing for the Jewish academics, said it is “entirely irrelevant” what Riemer and Keane believe is meant by the term intifada. The only fight about what intifada means is what it means to Jewish people or Israeli people in Australia. The other side of the history and this conflict is entirely irrelevant. My clients are not being sued for vilifying Palestinians or any other people. The substantial Jewish perspective is what matters,” he said.
And further: In the Riemer matter, the applicants claim posts on X, speeches and Riemer’s participation in a chant “Israel out of Gaza, Israel out of Palestine, long live the intifada” imputes “intifadas should extend to a violent global uprising against Jews and Israelis in Australia and other parts of the world in support of the Palestinian resistance” and the events of October 7, 2023, should be celebrated.
No it doesn’t inpute anything of the sort. I think Hamas’ Oct 7 actions were deplorable, as have Israel’s to a much greater extent since. I want Israel out of Gaza and I don’t for a second think Palestinian resistance is wrong, any more than Jewish resistance and Nazism was wrong 90 odd years ago.
If that’s the best Butt can do I hope the judge kicks the suit back into the 19th century whence it came.
Just appalling.
That should read…Jewish resistance AGAINST Nazism
And to be clear I’d like to see Hamas booted out of Gaza and Palestine – by Palestinians. An impossible dream maybe but stranger things have happened in modern history with the passing of time – eg the collapse of USSR, East/West Germany reunification.
Jon,
Hamas, ironically, was nursed into reality by the Israeli government and funded by one of the gulf states as a way of developing opposition to the Palestinian Authority on the West Bank.
They’re still at it. Thankfully both the ABC and SBS are having none of it.

Not that it’s likely to occur in this country at this time (thank God /s) but Segal’s suggestion that funding should be withdrawn is prejudicial in the extreme. Interestingly she made no mention of other potential transgressions which might also attract total dismantling. No doubt Netanyahu and his apologists would love to see that.
“Funding agreements or enabling legislation should be drafted to ensure that public funding can be readily terminated where organisations or individuals engage in or facilitate antisemitism.”
Note she makes no mention of how that would be determined or by whom, nor whether incidental/accidental/individual “antisemitism” should also see the baby thrown out with the bathwater.
