In the Führerbunker

By January 6, 2021Uncategorized

In 2012, the diaries of former British M15 Deputy Director Guy Liddell, were published, and they revealed a considerable amount of detail on Hitler’s final days, as documented in a Joint Intelligence Committee paper. At that time Hitler was holed up in the Führerbunker with a few other loyalists. According to the diaries, on April 22, 1945, during an assembly in the bunker, Hitler surprised his generals and Interior Minister Heinrich Himmler, with an alarming speech, in which he said: “Everyone has lied to me, everyone has deceived me… the SS has left me in the lurch. The German people have not fought heroically. It deserves to perish… it is not I who have lost the war, but the German people.” It was reported that Hitler’s face then turned purple.1

Trump lost the presidential election, and has tried all sorts of legal avenues to overturn the results, and almost all have failed because Trump’s legal team neglected to provide any evidence.2 The fact that Trump has not even conceded that he lost the election, speaks to his malignant narcissism3. In his constant whining about being cheated out of an election win, he has enraged his gullible supporters who actually believe this drivel, despite the results being certified by all states, many of which have Republicans in power.

Only a little while ago, Trump tweeted this: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

This refers to Vice President Mike Pence presiding over the certification of the electoral college votes, which Trump had urged him not to do. Pence maintained that he did not have the power to overturn the electoral college votes. Now the Capitol Building has been invaded by Trump supporters. Pence urged these Trump supporters to leave the Capitol after they breached security perimeters and Pence and members of congress had to be evacuated from the House and Senate chambers. He tweeted:

“The violence and destruction taking place at the US Capitol Must Stop and it Must Stop Now, Anyone involved must respect Law Enforcement officers and immediately leave the building.”

Trump is acting like a true malignant narcissist, and this has similarities to what happened in April 1945. While Hitler had little power as the Soviet army closed in on Berlin and what remained of the German army was collapsing, Trump has much more power in that he has his own army of supremely gullible fools. They are the vehicle of his narcissism: If he cannot have his win, then he will destroy the nation.

Some excellent articles from people from both sides of politics in the NY Times recently about Trump and his debasement of the Republican Party and American democracy. This by ex-Senator Jeff Flake sums things up precisely, although Trumps sons probably put it more succinctly when they said: ““This isn’t their Republican Party anymore. This is Donald Trump’s Republican Party.” Well we’ve seen in the last month just how corrupt, anti-democratic , anti-American and amoral some of these Republican quasi-lawmakers actually are, so that would indeed make them the bastard offspring of Trump’s political debauchery. Trump continued that debauchery on Twitter today, wreaking havoc on Congress and completely trashing a solemn totem of USA democracy.

Trump and his closest enablers need to be brought before the courts for incitement and sedition. The dribbling Giuliani actually called for “trial by combat” to decide the election, as if it hadn’t already been decided according to law, precedent and 7 million plus votes. That alone ought to be enough to lock the seditious turd up for a very long time.

Meanwhile it’s no coincidence that the CCP has taken the opportunity to arrest democracy leaders in Hong Kong.

In better news Biden now has control of both houses. Let’s hope he makes rapid and responsible use of his powers. Let’s also hope that Bozo and his UK marionettes are next, followed closely by our slimy Australian hypocrites. The latter is a longshot until Labor finds some balls and leaders with gravitas and personality.

      Jon,
Yep; these bastards need to go to gaol. They have attempted to overthrow the democratically elected government and that, in any democracy, warrants a long term in prison.

It is tempting to ascribe the decline of social sanity, cohesion etc in the USA, totally to the advent of a Trump presidency. Yes, he’s grotesque and his time has seen a shambles of administration. However, we must recall that Trump is really a sign/symbol of a longer-developing sickness within America – or of several sicknesses that interweave. When turbo-capitalism developed, propelled by high-speed digital communications, the conflation of “the economy” with “the nation” became ever more entrenched in America. Prior to that, other issues took some attention, such as the environment or poverty. This mistaken equivalence of national economy as synonym for the nation itself, is a characteristic of most anglo-countries/cultures. (Study shows that economy is not such an overriding obsession in areas like Scandinavia.) However, nations supersede and are categorically different from economies. Nation is the concept signifying flesh-and-blood people who have real life concerns. Economies are importantly connected with nations (as in production, consumption, employment etc) but are supposed to resonate with and follow the human priorities and concerns of the ACTUAL HUMANS who form the nation. America’s great fault is that by so closely identifying nation with economy, other parameters and notions became hidden, some utterly negated. Factors that are vital for democratic governments to take into account besides just the size, speed and growth rate of GDP, were increasingly ignored. A democracy, if it is to remain one, must be concerned with questions of social justice, equity, stabilisation of civil-social structures and so forth. But those were relegated to minor matters by US governments over the the thirty years from 1990. Administrations successively fell under the sway of economism, as Big Capital deeply infiltrated halls of government. Especially notable this century, is an exponential rise of the financial sector’s suspect influence – i.e. Wall Street. Colossal damage to the nature and proper functioning of government is wrought if finance wizards, billionaires and tech tycoons are determining policy, not elected congress members and senators. Almost all the socio-political mess in the USA now, seems to me an inevitable result of this leverage that money-masters and corporate bosses etc have obtained on Capitol Hill. Hence the divides in society, above all that disastrous income and wealth abyss. And wealth disparities can’t be separated from the racial issues; a running sore since the Clinton years. One could go on, but most of this sheets back to brute economism, Reaganism, and a self-serving corporate elite. Changing presidents, changing the party in command are no panacea, because the roots of American problems go much deeper. Hollywood-style politicking and personal popularity matches shown on CNN and Fox, are but a stupid circus. The media hypnotises but also gravely misleads the American public as to what their real problems are. Attacking and reducing the malign power of big capital and Wall St is desperately needed. They call the shots over almost every government formed in Washington, to the nation’s detriment.

      Russell,
So eloquently put, and accurate. What amazes me is that Trump is a child of this ubercapitalism, or economism as you put it, and yet the gullible bastards who voted for him clearly believed him when he said ‘I am your voice’. What did he do when he got into power? Gave tax cuts to the wealthy; and still they believe him. I think also that a big part of the problem is media outlets like Fox News and other Murdoch outlets. They should also face the music when blame is sheeted home, as it must be. Biden has a big task in front of him. If he fails; the US is finished.

Agree Russell, America’s problems were deeply rooted before Trump came along and while the economic divide is a significant factor it’s arguably not as big a driver for the more rabid sections of American society as some analysts suggest. Otherwise they’d be complaining about tax rorts, tax cuts to the wealthy, lack of affordable healthcare etc. Promulgation (and financial support by major conservative supporters) of disinformation, propaganda, conspiracy theories, anti-science attitudes for no reason other than personal gain – economic and political (climate change being a classic case), bullshit perpetrated in conservative circles about social reforms (like “Obamacare”) being “communist/socialist”, and outright racism are all contributers, as is the perceived loss of freedoms (to do as you want without any regard to others, the environment etc). These are a loose aggregation of people with all manner of rational and irrational grievances against “the establishment” (including institutions like the FBI, scientific/environmental organisations etc) . They thrived under Trump.
